Professional road cycling returns to the Rocky Mountains with the 2008 Colorado Stage International Cycle Classic, taking place August 22-24 in and around Breckenridge and the Vail Valley. National and international level Pro-Tour, Pro-Continental and Continental teams will go head-to-head in this UCI 2.1 certified competition. This is one of only four chances to see riders at this level in the United States. Many of the competitors are Tour De France racers and Olympians. On Friday, August 22, Breckenridge visitors and residents have the chance to watch the race kick-off on historic Main Street followed by a Health and Wellness Expo full of fun activities, vendors, demos and a jumbo tron to watch the race. From Breckenridge, riders will head over Hoosier Pass through Alma and Fairplay to Buena Vista. From Buena Vista riders will head north to Leadville, over Tennessee Pass and Battle Mountain down into Minturn and Avon. The race to the finish is a lung-searing 3-mile uphill sprint to Beaver Creek Village.
