The 7th Annual North American Pond Skimming Championships return to Mt. Bachelor on Sunday, May 18th! Wrap up another epic season at Mt Bachelor, this event has antics like you wouldn't believe. The North American Pond Skimming Championships brings brave (and slightly crazy) skiers and riders from all over the region and country. Each participant has one dream- of crossing the icy pond successfully, and if they're lucky, with style! Each competitor will recieve a raffle ticket to win a 2008-09 season pass. So hopefully that will give you that extra push you need to pull out your costume and take your chances across the Pond! Alder Creek will be putting on a show with Kyaks in the Pond and throwing some schwag to the crowd. So come check it out and enjoy the last day!!!!
Athletes are judged on 3 criteria:
1) length of clearance across the pond
2) costume
3) style
The first round is only judged on clearing the pond. Athletes MUST clear the pond to advance to the second round.
The second round will be judged on distance across the pond, costume and style. There will be "celebrity" judges from our sponsors tallying the scores.
Come on up to celebrate the last day of the 07-08 season and be a part of the biggest spectator event at the mountain! Enjoy an outdoor on snow beer garden and music too!
